Jason is an award-winning writer and director working across film and television. His films have screened at top-tier film festivals around the world, including Newport Beach Film Festival, LA Shorts International Film Festival, Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival, Galway Film Fleadh, Chicago International Film Festival, Foyle Film Festival and Belfast Film Festival, amongst others.
Jason has directed ‘EastEnders’ for BBC. He has worked extensively on RTÉ’s flagship continuing drama series, ‘Fair City’, where he has handled numerous specials including one of the series’ most audacious stunt sequences in its 35-year history. He also directed the entire third season of the RTÉ Player’s hit scripted comedy series, ‘The Doireann Project’.
Select award wins and nominations include Best Short Film at Waterford International Film Festival in 2024 for ‘A Simple Killing’, a Shark Award nomination in 2024 for ‘Picture Day’, winning Best Irish Short at Dublin International Short Film & Music Festival in 2023 for ‘Forever Hold Your Peace’, sweeping the boards with 6 nominations at Richard Harris International Film Festival in 2022 and winning Best National Short for ‘The Wall’ and an Emerging Director Award nomination in 2019 for the viral horror hit, ‘Mr. Eckles’. Jason also co-wrote and directed ‘The Most Magical Christmas Movie Ever!’ for LIDL, The Irish Times and FOE, which released in Irish cinemas nationwide in December 2023.
Jason is in active development on his debut feature film, ‘The Others’, with the support of Northern Ireland Screen. ‘The Others’ won the JETS Initiative pitching competition during Berlinale in 2024 and is now moving to financing with Playbook Media and multiple international partners secured during the international pitching event. Other features in development include ‘Clann’ with Danú Media and ‘Tomorrow, Maybe’ with Karol Griffiths.
He is in post-production on his new short film, ‘Memories Crumble’ produced under Screen Ireland’s ‘Actor as Creator’ programme and has been awarded production funding under Screen Ireland’s premiere short film scheme, Focus Shorts, for his next film, ‘Magic Markers’.
Jason has a post-graduate diploma in Advanced Producing from TU Dublin (graduated 2022), is an alumnus of the Reykjavik International Film Festival’s Talent Lab (2022) and Screen Ireland’s highly competitive ‘Screen Mentoring’ program (2022). He has a Masters in Filmmaking from Raindance Film School and he has lectured on directing drama and digital film production at the National Film School of Ireland, IADT and University of Chichester.
